The show, which premiered on December 17, 1984, was a comedy that explored the life of Reg Dudgeon, a working-class man who believed the Soviet takeover was beneficial. The series portrayed his attempts to support the party line amidst the hardships of food shortages, long queues, and low wages, which gradually tested his unwavering faith. Despite these challenges, Reg remained committed, even discovering a more privileged side of USSR-GB where elite parties took place.
