Is Calendar Countdown coming back?
Calendar Countdown (1982–1982) on ITV Yorkshire
About Calendar Countdown
Calendar Countdown ended on June 7, 1982, on ITV Yorkshire.
The show was a British adaptation of the Des chiffres et des lettres format and served as the predecessor to Countdown. It was broadcast only in the Yorkshire TV region, airing on Monday evenings at 6:30 pm immediately after the regional news program, Calendar. The series ran for eight weeks, from April 19 to June 7, 1982, and featured a format that combined word and number puzzles.
Calendar Countdown was a game show hosted by Richard Whiteley, with Cathy Hytner as the letters hostess and Denise McFarland-Cruickshanks as the Vital Statistician. The program was a 30-minute show that brought a regional twist to the popular puzzle format, engaging viewers with its mix of wordplay and numerical challenges. Although it only aired for one season, it laid the groundwork for the later, more widely known Countdown series.
