Akikan! was a comedy, fantasy anime series that first premiered in January 2009. It was about Kakeru Diachi, a boy who collected rare juice cans, who unexpectedly met a girl named Melon when he tried to drink her. Melon turned out to be an Akikan—a girl who was also a special can created to fight other Akikans in a strange experiment to determine which container was better: steel or aluminum. The show explored the humorous and fantastical consequences of this unusual premise.
The main cast included Jun Fukuyama as Kakeru "Bakakeru" Daichi, Sayaka Narita as Melon, and Aki Toyosaki as Najimi Tenkuuji.
