This children's fantasy and science-fiction series was about Penelope, who lived in the twentieth century. When she went to stay with her aunt at Thackers, an old farmhouse, she found herself transported back in time. There, she became involved with the Babington family and observed the events surrounding Mary, Queen of Scots, as they attempted to rescue her, witnessing the tragic consequences that unfolded.

The show was a 30-minute series that aired in 1978. Sophie Thompson starred as Penelope in this historical adventure.
