Meredith Susanna Cara Kercher was a British student on exchange from the University of Leeds who was murdered at the age of 21 in Perugia, Italy. She was found dead on the floor of her room in November 2007. Kercher's American roommate, Amanda Knox, and Knox's Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, were charged with her murder. Knox was released from prison on November 24, 2021. Rudy Guede was found guilty of sexual assault and murder of Kercher in October 2008; he has since exhausted the appeals process.
