Damien Sayre Chazelle is a French-American film director, screenwriter and producer. He is known for directing the films Whiplash (2014), La La Land (2016), First Man (2018) and Babylon (2022) He is the youngest person to win an Academy Award at age 32. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island to a Catholic family. He studied filmmaking at Harvard University and graduated in 2007.
