Notaro was born Mathilde O'Callaghan Notaro in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1971. She is a stand-up comedian, writer, radio contributor, and actress known for her deadpan comedy. Her album Live was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in 2014. Notaro is a distant cousin of Gloria Steinem. She was cast in Star Trek: The Discovery: The U.S. Army, replacing Chris D'Elia, in Zack Snyder's Dead Army.
