Tommy Wiseau wrote and directed The Room as a play in 2001 and adapted it into a film. The film is centered around a melodramatic love triangle between amiable banker Johnny and his deceptive fiancée Lisa. Lisa seduces Johnny's best friend, Mark, and the two begin a secret affair. Johnny becomes depressed and calls upon Mark and his psychologist for advice. He has a nervous breakdown, furiously destroying his apartment, and commits suicide by shooting himself in the mouth.
