The North Water is a 2021 five-part television miniseries based on Ian McGuire's 2016 novel of the same name. The series is set in the year 1859, the final years of the whale oil trade, on a whaling expedition in the Arctic Ocean. As well as whaling, the series depicts the slaughter of seals, and acts of rape and murder aboard the ship.
