NCIS is an American military police procedural television series. It is the first installment within the NCIS media franchise. The series is the third-longest-running scripted, live-action American prime-time TV series currently airing. In 2011, NCIS was voted "America's favorite television show" in an online poll.
NCIS is the main federal law enforcement agency of the U.S. Department of the Navy. It is based at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., where it was led by Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Alden Parker now leads the team, following his appointment early in season 19.
