Run-DMC is regarded as one of the most influential acts in the history of hip-hop culture. Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, Jason Mizell, and Dwayne "Easy D" formed in 1983 in Hollis, Queens, New York City. The group pioneered new-school hip hop music and helped usher in the golden age hip-hoop. The cover of "Walk This Way" charted higher than Aerosmith's original version, peaking at number four.
