A. S. Dileep Kumar was born in Madras, Tamil Nadu, on 6 January 1967. He is a prolific film-music composer, record producer, singer, songwriter, musician, multi-instrumentalist and philanthropist. Rahman is nicknamed "Isai Puyal" (musical storm) and "Mozart of Madras" He has won six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards and two Grammy Awards. His score for his first Hollywood film, Couples Retreat, won the BMI Award for Best Score.
