The manga is set during the time frame of Toriyama's original Dragon Ball manga. It follows the adventures of Son Goku and friends during the ten-year timeskip after the defeat of Majin Buu. An anime television series produced by Toei Animation aired in Japan from July 2015 to March 2018. The first two arcs of the anime readapted the events of the Dragon Ball Z films Battle of Gods (2013) and Resurrection 'F' (2015), the latter was only summarized in the manga. A sequel film, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, was released in December 2018 and became the highest-grossing anime film of the franchise.
