The series is an adaptation of the first 194 chapters of the manga series of the same name created by Akira Toriyama. It aired for 153 episodes from February 26, 1986, to April 19, 1989, on Fuji TV. The series was followed by a sequel, Dragon Ball Z, which had its own follow-ups with Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super. Film adaptations include: Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies, Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle, and the 10th anniversary film.
