The series will chronicle the true story of the legendary Viking warrior Eiríkr Haraldsson better known as Eric Bloodaxe and his wife, Gunnhild, Mother of Kings. It is reported that it will follow Erik's ascent to throne of Norway. The series started filming on 2 June 2025 in Wicklow, Ireland.
