Based on a True Story is an American comedy thriller television series. The series premiered on Peacock on June 8, 2023, and was renewed for a second season in October 2023. Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina star as real estate agent Ava Bartlett and tennis coach Nathan Bartlett. Ava and Nathan are a Los Angeles couple expecting their first child in the midst of financial struggles and a failing marriage. They hire a charming plumber, Matt Pierce, to install their new toilet and Nathan befriends him. Nathan and Ava discover that Matt is the Westside Ripper, a serial killer.
