All in the Family ran for nine seasons, from January 12, 1971, to April 8, 1979. It was based on the British sitcom Till Death Us Do Part and starred Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton, Sally Struthers, and Rob Reiner. The show broke ground in its depiction of issues previously considered unsuitable for a US network television comedy.
All in the Family is about a working-class white family living in Queens, New York. The show is set in the Astoria section of Queens, with the vast majority of scenes taking place in the Bunkers' home. Supporting characters represent the changing demographics of the neighborhood.
